Over the past 4 years, the Texas Monthly Vintners Cup Competition has built the ultimate case of Texas Wine. Winning with two wines is a true testament to Adega Vinho’s commitment to producing the best wine possible and to Michael Bilger and his wine-making team’s dedication to hard work in the wine cellar. Our winners are:
- 2022 Chardonnay which was also the winner of Double Gold at the 2024 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and 2nd highest rated Chardonnay in its category. Sourced from Texas Hills Vineyards, Texas Hill Country AVA.

The annual competition is sponsored by the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Uncork Texas Wines program in collaboration with Texas Monthly Studio. 223 Texas-grown wines were judged by:
- Jessica Dupuy, esteemed Texas Monthly wine writer and Sommelier
- Jack Mason, Master Sommelier and director of national sales and fine wine for Banville Wine Merchants
- Devon Broglie, Master Sommelier and global beverage buyer for Whole Foods Market
- Craig Collins, Master Sommelier and brand development manager at VINTUS
Texas Agriculture Commissioner, Sid Miller, notes: “The Texas wine industry is a major part of our state’s agricultural heritage. In the last ten years, Texas has grown the wine industry from $3 billion to $20 billion and it continues to grow.” Adega Vinho is happy to be a part of this success.
Taste the wines from the ultimate case of Texas wine at the State Fair of Texas. Visit the GO TEXAN Pavilion presented by Southwest Dairy Farmers to sample the award-winning wines from the 11 winning wineries on September 27 & 28 2024.
Adega Vinho means wine cellar in Portuguese. All of our Portuguese-style wines showcase the Texas terroir. Michael’s focus is crafting old-world style wines, letting each vintage dictate the wines.
