CNN Travel Highlights Adega Vinho’s Gold Medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards

Adega Vinho Winery has earned international recognition following a remarkable achievement at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards.

In an article published by CNN Travel covering the Decanter World Wine Awards, Texas was recognized for a landmark year, earning its first-ever Gold Medals in the competition’s history. Among the wines specifically highlighted by CNN Travel was Adega Vinho’s 2021 Estate Tempranillo, which received a coveted Gold Medal and 95-point score.

The article noted: “California, Oregon and Washington continued to dominate but Texas had a landmark year with its first-ever Gold medals. Texan winners included three wines from the Texas Hill Country: AB Astris, Souzao 2022, Turtle Creek Vineyard, Tannat 2023, and Adega Vinho, Estate Tempranillo 2021. The final Gold was awarded to Spicewood Vineyards, Las Montañas 2022.”

A Gold Medal That Puts Texas on the World Stage

The Decanter World Wine Awards are widely regarded as one of the most influential and respected wine competitions in the world. Wines are evaluated through a rigorous blind-tasting process conducted by Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, and leading international wine experts. This year, almost 17,000 wines from 58 countries were blind tasted by 245 leading wine experts.

Receiving a Gold Medal places Adega Vinho among an elite group of wineries from around the world whose wines demonstrated exceptional quality and distinction.

CNN Travel’s recognition further reinforces what visitors to Texas Wine Country are increasingly discovering: Texas wines are competing successfully on the international stage.
